The sprint elevated the voices of youth, kin caregivers, and families, ensuring their lived experiences directly informed system improvements. Counties gained a clearer understanding of what works—and what doesn’t—resulting in more responsive, family-centred kinship care practices.

Within just three months, counties received actionable insights that would typically take years to generate. This accelerated decision-making, enabling leaders to quickly implement changes and improve kinship placement outcomes.

Through extensive qualitative research and stakeholder engagement, the project uncovered clear system-level patterns—from licensing delays to gaps in caregiver support. These insights guided targeted policy and operational reforms across participating counties.

By aligning stakeholders and embedding feedback loops into the system, counties were equipped to continuously improve kinship care practices. The approach not only delivered immediate results but also strengthened the foundation for ongoing, sustainable reform.
